Wind tests of various camcorder microphones, including: - Canon HF200 built-in microphone - Rode shotgun Videomic - Rode Stereo Videomic All recordings were performed on the same street corner at the same time, and only the original windscreens included with each microphone were used. There is no absolute favourite microphone here. Surprisingly, the Canon HF200's built-in microphone handled the moderate winds nearly as well as the Rode Stereo Videomic, which can be very useful if you need to record something discretely without intimidating everyone around you with that huge fuzzy beast on top of your camcorder. But if you need a high fidelity recording, stick with the Rode Stereo Videomic. Unfortunately, the Rode Videomic is more of an interviewer's microphone best suited for indoor use. Its high sensitivity to low frequencies creates a huge rumble in the recordings even under very slight winds. The microphone's custom made fuzzy windscreen is only available as an optional accessory, and wasn't available for this test. The next series of tests will be performed during an unusually windy day, hopefully with steady 50 km/h winds, the kind of wind that starts making everyone walk funny.

While I was on my computer, I saw the mouse scamper into the room across the hallway. I waited for it to go under the box, then yanked the string and trapped the mouse. I walked it to a grass area about 200 yards from the house and released it. I read that it should be a few miles from the house but I chose not to burn gasoline in a vehicle to do this. Every once in a while you just have to get out and LET IT RIP. AR15 Bushmaster shooting montage, including open-sight shooting out to 325 yards. This is the only AR I currently own that does not have after-market optics. The basic sight system of the AR15 is remarkably accurate at modest distances, even with NATO surplus ammo. This rifle has a 20 inch barrel, 1:9 twist. Steel shooting up to 210 yards was with 5.56 mm 55 grain NATO FMJ. An exception.....for the orange soft steel target at 150 yards I did use 62 grain NATO Green Tip with the steel penetrator. For the 300+ yard segments I was shooting Doubletap 69 grain ballistic tips. All shooting was on private property under controlled, safe conditions. During segments where you don't see a target, and there are many, I am shooting at dead trees, a dirt berm, or the hillside....regardless of distance. Every shot has a visible backstop. For all segments, I was the only person present, filming from a tripod or gun-mounted camera.....which is the case for 99% of my videos. The camo suit is REALTREE AP from Bass Pro. This Object was first seen flying Southeast direction, over the woods at the far end of the farmlands, and appeared like an airplane flying SIDEWAYS... After a short time, after fixing its headlights to the front, it changed direction to Southwest, travelled diagonally over the farmlands approaching my position, showing an unusual flashing light display, revealing a unique dark unknown "moving shape" attached to the body. The Object came as close to 1/3 mile from me, flying at approx 200 feet in the air then continued its flight and disappeared heading South. Overall, all lights were not perfectly round as we are use to see on "normal" aircraft, and the Object was dead silent and similar to the Shape Shifting Entities UFOs types filmed in my area... Note: My tripod is under repair for a few weeks, I filmed this sighting with a secondary tripod which isn't meant for video. Sorry for the bad shaky camera movements...
